Movement Workshops

Enlarge and embody your creativity in this interactive day of artistic play. Using an interdisciplinary approach of movment, writing and visual art we'll (re)discover our deep well of creativity. Our creativity is multi-dimensional- art forms feed each other. Using other art forms can help dissolve creative blocks in your primary form. Even if you have no interest is pursuing an art form, these activities will enhance your capacity for creative thinking. The trust you learn in your own creativity can be directed into a business letter, a presentation, teaching, cooking parenting etc.All are welcome, no special skills needed. Taught by Peggy Lamb. Peggy Lamb/Moving Connections, a native New Yorker, is a dancer, choreographer and writer who frequently weaves her writing and choreography together. She was a key member of the Dallas performance community for the better part of a decade, alternately playing founder, choreographer, director, dancer and collaborator in numerous projects. Her background includes an MA in Dance from American University in Washington, D.C. and post-graduate work in Movement Studies. She finally came to her senses and moved to Austin in 2001. The Dallas Morning News has praised her work as “pushing the boundaries of decorum and sense…” She currently teaches movement classes to incarcerated women at Lockhart prison through the non-profit organization, Truth Be Told. When she grows up she wants to be a bungee jumper.

Come play with us as we explore the relationship between the language of words and the language of the body. As we dance the inexpressible we will come to know the symbolic language of movement and the cellular wisdom that swims through our bodies. Without judgment or criticism we will write our lives, our dances, our songs and our poetry. Using gentle stretches and movement exercises we will open our body’s mind to let our words flow. No dance, movement or writing experience necessary! Taught by Peggy Lamb.
